Nanyang Junior College 32nd Student Council organised Orientation 2010 on the 28th, 29th January, 1st and 2nd February for the new batch of JC1 students. The 32nd Student Council, led by Orientation 2010 Ad hoc chairperson Ye Yimei and advised by Ms Ng Sio Hoon and Ms Belinda Loh Mei Lin, planned an array of activities to familiarize the JC1s with the new environment and to let them experience the school spirit so that they will have a sense of belonging to the college.The theme for this year’s orientation was “UP-Beyond Limits” with the 4 tribes named Nova, Yancey, Junkers and Connor.

The first day began with academic talks and ice-breakers for the JC1s to have a better understanding of the JC curriculum and to get to know NYJC and their new peers. Apart from receiving their much anticipated orientation package, the JC1s also started learning the 32nd mass dance. The second day was held at Sentosa where a variety of team-building games designed to let the JC1s know the college values of Intergrity, Resilience, Compassion and Resourcefulness were played. The OGLs and JC1s had an enjoyable time despite the scorching sun. On the third day, the JC1s had fun learning school cheers that the 32nd Student Council College and Image Bonding (CIB) committee came up with for the National A Division Championships.

On the last day of orientation, the JC1s learnt the NYJC traditional dance. The highlight of the whole event was the Disco Night where everyone showed off their dancing talent and enjoyed the evening. The 31st Student Council also graced the Disco Night by leading everyone in the traditional dance.

The 32nd Student Council would like to thank the AVA Club, Channel News Nanyang(CNNY), Photographic Society, Orientation Group Leaders and the JC1s for making Orientation 2010 a success and we wish all JC1s good luck in the year ahead.
